Rajasthan is India’s largest state (10% of India’s total area) encompassing much of the mighty Thar Desert, one of the driest places on earth. Rajasthan has a rich culture and there are many ancient forts across the state reminding visitors of its feudal history.
Although the people of Rajasthan live in a harsh environment with water shortages creating major problems for them they remain fiercely proud. They brighten up their lives with colour – the women’s clothes are often in strong, bold hues and the men wear brightly coloured turbans. Consequently, Rajasthan is one of the most photogenic places in India.

Rajasthan is a desert state and as such can be very hot during the day with temperatures falling dramatically at night. The best time to visit Rajasthan is between October and April.
