Chandelao Garh was originally built in 1744 and the central building (the “raolo”, main living quarters) is still part of the property. In 1996 restoration began and in 1997 Chandelao Garh received its first guests. Chandelao is a village 50 minutes outside Jodhpur. Most of the 2000 residents are involved in agriculture. It is known for its independent people, colourful clothes and traditional handicrafts.
