The owners of Neeleshwar Hermitage in North Kerala had the brilliant idea of building their own rice barge and putting it one the nearby waterways. The Malabar backwaters are very quiet – reminiscent of the Alleppey backwaters 15 years ago. The Lotus is a state of the art boat with a style similar to Neeleshwar Hermitage. It is light and spacious with clean lines and lots of teak and bright colours. The boat is staffed and managed by the Neeleshwar team so you can expect the same level of service and same quality of food.

The Property
The boat can accommodate up to 4 people as it has two bedrooms each with a private sit-out area and en-suite bathroom. There is also a sitting room, bar and sun deck (for al fresco dining as well as sun bathing). The Lotus offers one or two night cruises. Some of the day is spent gently cruising and at other times you will go ashore to visit otherwise unreachable temples, villages and local cottage industries. The birdlife is excellent in this area. Guests staying at Neeleshwar Hermitage can take a day trip on The Lotus (if it is available).
