The Property
The late Mr. Joseph Pallattukunnel, a coffee and spice manufacturer, constructed Rose Gardens in 1920. His sixth son, a botanist named Mr. Tomy Joseph, inherited it.
In 1994, Mr. Tomy made the decision to open a plant nursery after being asked to create gardens and handle upkeep for several hotels and resorts in Munnar. His plants caught the attention of a Spanish couple on their honeymoon in Munnar, who wanted to meet Tomy and visit his nursery. After spending a few nights with the family, they recommended that they set up a homestay, resulting in the creation of Rose Gardens.
