The Estate was named after its last known resident, a prominent missionary called Mary Budden. In 1990 it was bought and renovated by Ashwani and Serena Chopra.

The Mary Budden Estate includes two 19th century inspired cottages (Mary Budden Cottage & Rhododendron Cottage) both with three bedrooms. There is also a homestay in the Dalar Village, which gives a cultural and village experience.
