Maheshwar

Maheshwar is an overlooked and unexploited town. It was built on the site of Maheshvari, the ancient capital of a King mentioned in the Sanskrit epics – Mahabharata and Ramayana. The town has a history of handloom weaving going back to the 5th century and their saris are unique. The town is said to have more than 100 temples – the ones to see are regarded as being Rajarajeshwara. Kaleshwara, Vithaleshwara and Ahileshwar. From Maheshwar you can visit Mandu for the day.
