Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad is the commercial capital of Gujarat and is India’s seventh largest metropolitan city. It was originally Gujarat’s state capital but this changed to Gandhinagar in 1970. Ahmedabad was founded in 1411 by Sultan Ahmed Shah and has been an important Gujarati city ever since. Today it has a booming textile industry and is becoming important in the fields of education, IT and scientific industries. Amongst the modern offices and shopping malls you can still find a maze of narrow alleys lined with wooden houses.
