The Property
Taragarth Palace was then bought in 1951 by the royal family of the Princely state of Jammu and Kashmir for the dowager Maharani who lived there for a number of years. It is still owned by the family but is now open to the public as a heritage hotel operated by WelcomHeritage. The Palace stands at an altitude of over 1000 km and is surrounded by 15 acres of forested land. The hotel has 26 guest rooms.
